When an audit is required, our approach is designed to add value, improve systems and identify areas of risk. Our partners and staff are experienced in a variety of sectors enabling us to offer advice that is relevant to your business needs, whilst being keen to ensure audits are conducted smoothly and efficiently.

We provide accountancy services to clients of all sizes and needs, ranging from assistance with statutory accounts preparation through to monthly management accounts and bookkeeping assistance. As well as ensuring compliance with deadlines, we like to review your business results with you to identify tax planning opportunities and facilitate financial planning where possible.

In addition to ensuring compliance with the regulations and deadlines, we offer proactive tax advice to maximise tax planning opportunities both in terms of business and personal tax. We provide advice on a wide area of tax matters from complex VAT issues through to business succession and inheritance tax planning.

Management Accounts

Having regular management accounts can enable the business owner to react quickly to changes in their business and facilitate tax planning opportunities. We are able to prepare management accounts on a monthly, quarterly or six monthly basis. Our fees are competitive and quite often, significant savings can be made on the year end accountancy fee where we have maintained the accounting records during the year.

Bookeeping and VAT Returns

Many of our clients take advantage of our bookkeeping and VAT Return services. Complying with the reporting requirements can be extremely demanding for the small business owner and many choose to instruct us to deal with the routine bookkeeping and VAT Return compliance on their behalf. We also offer an electronic filing service for our clients who are comfortable with preparing the VAT calculations but seek assistance with electronic submissions.

Operating a payroll has become increasingly demanding in recent years with increased regulation. We operate a confidential payroll bureau service for both hourly paid and monthly salaried staff. We calculate the appropriate payroll taxes, advise of the amounts to be paid both to the employees and HMRC and produce payslips for onward distribution to employees. We can also help you to comply with your responsibilities under the Auto Enrolment (Workplace Pensions) Regulations.

Tax Enquiries

Any taxpayer can be targeted by HMRC to check that they are paying the correct amount of tax. The pressure on the government to generate increased tax revenues has been well publicised in recent years. If selected for an HMRC enquiry or VAT/Employer compliance visit, we are able to represent you, our aim being to settle matters as quickly and efficiently as possible. We offer a Tax Enquiry Fee Protection Service which gives the peace of mind that if selected for a tax enquiry or compliance visit, our fees in representing you would be covered (subject to the terms of the policy).

Will Writing

Most of us realise that we should make a Will but recent research shows that as many as two thirds of the UK population do not have one. Making a Will is a fundamental part to any estate-planning exercise in order to make certain that matters are dealt with in a tax-efficient way. A Will is also important if you are living as a couple but are not married, as without one, you may be treated as a single person and your surviving partner may have no entitlements. Our Partner Sue Hudson is a Member of the Society of Will Writers and is able to offer Will Writing services at competitive rates.

Power of Attorney

With a rising number of people suffering from dementia, it is becoming increasingly important to have a Power of Attorney in place to enable your loved ones to deal with your financial and personal affairs if you are unable to. A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document that lets you choose a trusted person/s to make financial decisions or health and care decisions on your behalf. We are able to advise further on and prepare LPAs for financial and/or health and personal welfare affairs and to register them with the Office of the Public Guardian on your behalf.
